Sometimes Sugar is Necessary!

This weekend we were in Winfield to celebrate my 21st 31st birthday with my parents. I actually don't turn another year older till next weekend, but due to our schedules we celebrated this weekend. We had a very relaxing weekend, as we always do when we visit.

Brenden and I have always wanted to learn how to make my dad's famous brisket, so this was the weekend!  Saturday morning we headed over to the big kitchen at Southwestern College to get the brisket started.  Since liquid smoke is used and it is a STRONG smell, we opted to cook it at the school.  It turned out great and we brought home leftovers to enjoy this week! Unfortunately we did not get any photos of it!

Here is proof that sometimes sugar is necessary and that my weekend definitly was not sugar free!

Ice cream cake from DQ has been a birthday tradition in our family forever, so I could not pass up a piece of the goodness! I failed this weekend in the sugar challenge, but it was worth it! how did you do?

  2. It was so good to have you here for a birthday visit! Surprised you didn't share about our high tech health food store find - ha! The sugar during the weekend was really good, but now.....back to "no sugar" for the rest of the 30 days. Good Luck!
