Brenden and I have been slowly making steps towards a 100% whole/real foods lifestyle and we can definitely tell a difference! The most recent change we have made was to begin buying milk from a local dairy farm that is not a giant commercial dairy farmer mandated by huge milk companies. Check out the milk we have been buying here. I have never loved milk and have never really liked to drink milk, but I can drink an entire glass of milk now and it tastes FABULOUS!
If you have not heard about the most recent egg recall you may be living in a cave! This latest recall of eggs has prompted me to take the plunge and begin buying local pastured eggs from farmers in the area, which is the next thing on our list for transiting to a healthy and "real foods" diet. I could give you a summary of what I have learned through my research, but another blog I follow regularly has already done a fabulous job at explaining the difference in eggs. Check them out here and here.
Jo-Lynne from Musings of a Housewife is who first inspired me to begin our "real foods transition". I also picked up a copy of "Real Food: What to Eat and Why" by Nina Planck which was an easy read and had GREAT information! For those of you interested in begging to move towards a healthier eating lifestyle, I recommend picking up this book. There are also several other books that have helped me. Let me know if you are interested and I can send you the list!
