Sucess & Snacks

Today (day three) WAS.A.SUCCESS. Amazingly I have not been having many cravings throughout the day, other then random thoughts about those wonderful Girl Scout cookies floating around lately! Did I mention we only have access to these once a year? Why in the world did I choose this time to start this darn 30 day challenge?

Some of you may be wondering what the heck I eat since I am not consuming anything with sugar.  I know you are because Brenden thinks I am crazy. Here are some ideas for you!

Fresh fruits and veggies top my list of healthy snacks!  A great addition to eat with vegetables or pita bread is hummus.  Hummus is a great source of protein and is VERY easy to make. It is also a versatile recipe that you can get creative with. If you do a quick Google search you will find endless variety of recipes for hummus.  Here are a few I found*.

MckMama's Hummus Recipe

*Disclaimer: I have only tried MckMama's recipe for hummus, so I do  not guarantee the other two are good. But just reviewing the recipes I pretty much can guarantee they are.

Here are some other snack recipes that would be wonderful replacements for packaged, sugar filled snacks.

1. Musings of a Housewife Homemade Granola Bars How-To Video.

Some other ideas for sugar free snacks:
Girl Scout Cookies Natural Peanut Butter* with celery
Pretzels
Popcorn
Nuts
Plain Greek yogurt with a little honey or fruit added in if you can not handle the plain by itself,

*This does not mean Jiffy or Peter Pan Peanut Butter. You can find natural peanut butter in health food stores like Whole Foods or in the "Organic/Health Food Section" of major grocery stores.

What healthy, sugar free foods do you snack on???

Coming Thursday.....What is the big deal with HFCS (High Fructose Corn Syrup)?
