Weekend Wanderings 6.24.12

Hope you have had a great weekend. This weekend went WAY.TO.FAST! B has his second check ride tomorrow so we are hoping and praying he does well and passes. There is a tropical storm in the Gulf and we are supposed to have rain and storms this week. So we hope to have good weather and calm winds so he doesn't have to fly and do maneuvers in windy weather.

It has been awhile since I did a Weekend Wanderings post and my folder of great things I want to share is growing far to large!

Dangers of the Birth Control Pill. This is a great abbreviated read on some of the issues with birth control pills. I am convinced that if I had not been on birth control I would not be having hormone issues which have unfortunately lead to us not being able to start a family yet.   I know this is a controversial issues, what do you think of the article?

While we are on the topic of babies, or lack of babies check this post out about What You Should (and Shouldn't) Say to Someone who has Lost a Baby.

The Cooking Oil Comparison.  I love this and is hanging on my fridge for reference!

Interesting article on What's Wrong with Farmers Markets  What are your thoughts?  Have you experienced these things at your Farmers Markets?

How Long Does Food Last?

Well that is all for this weekend!  I would love to hear back from you on your thoughts on the above links.

  1. I'm 100% with you on the effects of taking the pill. I was on it for 8 years, and now? I've been off it for 5 years and my hormones are still not right. I had to eliminate dairy (and I don't dare eat soy) because my body is just too sensitive to the hormones.

  2. Hey Andrea, thanks for posting the link for the dangers of birth control. I am very convinced by what I read. I was taking the minipill since I am breastfeeding and planning to switch to the pill in 6 months or so. Now I don't think I'll be doing that. In the past I used the pill for a little while but did not like how it made me feel. It's upsetting because it is pushed so much by our doctors and so we feel safe because of that. Oy, it's a difficult topic.
